MATERNITY CENTRE - SENEGAL
The proposed project mass is designed in a linear fiction, symbolizing the human search for meaning and life between birth and death. The project scenario consists of 3 parts in total.
Birth and postpartum spaces are designed according to these three stages and are supported by each other. Flexible transitions between different units allow flexibility in the interior and provide maximum usable space. The linear wall proposal on the corridor axis rises above the roof, and thanks to its slope, it finds a place within the project as an element symbolizing the birth, development and completion of human beings.
Thanks to the double skin in the project setup, the building is allowed to breathe. Thanks to additional circulation areas, maximum flexibility is provided to the interior units. Thanks to the suggested eaves, the rainwater collected is collected in gutters in the garden and can be used in necessary areas and easily drained if desired. The linear corridor element functions as a large chimney through which the massively heated air is discharged. The surgery and birth areas are designed to filter the direct burning effect of sunlight with skylights on the roof, but also provide illumination inside.
Thanks to the selected natural materials and the targeted color palette; The proposed project is directly connected to the soil, symbolizing the transcendental rise of the mass thanks to masonry materials.
