MEMORYKONYA

The city is a spatial fiction in which physical, social and cultural formations belonging to different periods of history are considered in continuity. This construct that constitutes the city is undergoing a process of social, economic and technological change and transformation. In addition to the physical structure, the identity formation of cities also includes the change / transformation processes that occur in a spiral structure, including physical, social, political, economic, economic, cultural and many other elements from the macro environment to the micro environment in which they are located. The changing urban identity in the process shapes the physical spaces of the city. Urban identity and related urban images are formed over a long period of time and sometimes from very different components within the urban space. Urban identity “Affecting the image of the city, each city has its own characteristics with different scales and interpretations; Shaped by physical, cultural, socio-economic, historical and formal factors, formed by urbanites and their lifestyle; It is a meaningful integrity created by a great process extending from the past to the future, which keeps the concept of a constantly developing and sustainable city alive. We aimed to first understand and feel Alaaddin Hill, which is an important section and focal point of this strong flow of the city, and then to turn it into an opportunity by eliminating the distortion created by the incompatibility between what the historical environment offers us and today's needs.

-In order to strengthen and improve accessibility to the project area, Alaaddin Boulevard vehicle traffic has been underground from the beginning of Mevlana Street to İnce Minareli Mosque. The tram line has been preserved in its current form. A multi-purpose square is envisaged between the Karatay Madrasa and the II. Kılıçarslan Mansion. In this case, a focal point was created and the beginning of a tour route was provided, especially for foreigners and tourists of the region.

-Using the tramway as a service line for emergencies,

- Treating the existing excavation areas of the region as a semi-open museum and creating a step-by-step navigation scenario from the user's perspective; In this context, developing construction, demolition, renovation, functionalization, pedestrianization and planting scenarios,

-A tour route has been designed to use the area efficiently and comfortably, starting from the lowest Focus Square Level.

-The top of the excavation areas are designed by imitating topography and historical grading and respect the historical silhouette. The materials selected are completely natural.

-Suggesting squares and gathering areas,

-Establishing circulation lines for daily and touristic use,

-While an uninterrupted circulation network is provided by connecting the levels with ramps in places for everyone's access, the level differences created by the leveled platforms and squares are utilized by converting them into lecture halls and seating units,

- The water element in front of the martyrdom monument was continued as a reflecting pool around the lavender pavilion on the same axis.

-The life-giving image of water makes a reference to the now spatialization of the purple church, which exists only in historical documents.

-The existing tulip gardens were also maintained around the event square.

-The event square (amphitheatre) is also planned to serve the students of the Torrance building, which continues to be used as a conservatory.

-The pedestrianized northern wall of the Aladdin mosque was graded with steps, aiming to emphasize the importance of the Aladdin mosque as a historical temple and its strong meaning of belonging to the place.

-The positioning of Eflatun and the event square is compatible with the existing gradation of the topography.
